Become a PDA volunteer!

Volunteers make a huge difference to our work – we relay on our incredible volunteers to help deliver our projects and services.

  • Community Fridge Volunteer

Do you feel passionately about big issues like Climate Change?
Do you have an interest in environmental sustainability?
Would you like to be part of an organisation based on equality and co-operation, working with the community for a sustainable world? This is the perfect opportunity for you if you are looking to gain experience in this field!
We are looking for people to join PDA Goes Green for an exciting new project as we introduce the first ever Community Fridge in the Southside of Glasgow.
Roles vary but we are looking for people who can;

• Promote the fridge on social media and encourage people to take food from the fridge.
• Create links with local businesses and organisations and seek food donations.
• Collect donations from local businesses, restaurants, and shops.
• Sort through food donated by the public.
• Support our team in public events.
• Clean and maintain the Community Fridge.

We are promoting the concept of sharing. The impact one community fridge can have is immense; it can save thousands of units of unused food from going to the landfill, which will, in turn, protect the environment from Global Warming.

We are looking for as many helpful volunteers as possible, to share this exciting work.

There are a variety of roles depending on how involved you want to be and how much time you would like to give.

We will need volunteers for one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon every day, following a rota. The smallest commitment we ask for is one hour a week.

In return for your time and commitment the PDA can offer volunteers an opportunity to benefit from;
• Access to free training, including a City & Guild qualification in Food Hygiene (accredited by REHIS – The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland)
• Volunteer Induction day.
• Reimbursement of agreed travel expenses.
• References for future employment.
Most importantly, you will have an opportunity to volunteer in a fun, stimulating, and friendly environment!
